An idea catches on around the world

Founded in 1970, the New York-based World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) has a membership of 284 World Trade Centers in 77 countries, with over 750'000 affiliated international business enterprises.

A fairly simple concept lies behind the plain statistics and it's a concept which has now caught on all around the world: The WTCA has established an international trading network which allows small and medium-sized businesses to access new markets and trading zones. In most cases, such enterprises don't have many opportunities to extend their activities abroad.

The World Trade Center Zurich joined the World Trade Centers Association on 16 November 1988 as the fifth and most recent Swiss member after Geneva, Basel, Lausanne and Lugano. Three years later, in November 1991, construction work began on the site which was to become the present WTC building in Leutschenbachstrasse. The WTC Zurich was officially opened on 5 September 1995.
